As
Pioneers in Alaska's meat industry, Delta Meat and Sausage Co., built by
owners Doug & Cathie McCollum in 1997, is a family business. Their
daughter, Jeannie Pinkelman manages the plant.
It is the only USDA slaughter/packing facility in the interior of
Alaska. They specialize in "Alaska Grown - All Natural Beef & Pork" and
marketing of local exotic animals. They cater to a great group of
hunters as well.
Located at 1413 Alaska Highway Delta Meat has a small retail store out
front to purchase the beef and pork, as well as a showcase display of
homemade sausages, hams, bacon, fresh eggs, milk and vegetables in
season. Orders can be taken as well for buffalo, elk, yak and reindeer
that are locally raised in the area.
Delta Meat specializes in custom game cutting and game sausages. Stop in
and try a sample of the delicious products. They also offer gift
packages, and they are happy to accommodate school field trips and large
group tours.
