Delta Chamber of Commerce
General Membership Meeting
September 21, 2022
Acting
President Chuck Creamer called the meeting to order at 12:05 noon at
the Trophy Lodge. Approximately 24 members and guests attended.
August Minutes were presented to the membership for approval. MMSP
Pablo Martinez/Eileen Herman to approve same.
Chuck presented the Treasurer’s Report as follows. The General
Chamber Account is currently $14,568.41; Community Service Fund
$89,130.33; Visitors Information Center $10,312.07; the Activities
Account is $27,474.29 and the Savings Account is $8,346.18. Total
balance on all accounts $149,831.28. MMSP Claire Wingfield/Pablo
Martinez to approve the Treasurer’s Report.
Executive Director Brenda Peterson Reports:
• That Board President Cleeta Barger had recently undergone surgery
in North Carolina and that she is doing well.
• The Chamber’s Halloween Bash event is scheduled for October 21st
in the Delta High School small gym and that it will be an event for
people of all ages. Adult and kids costume contests, pumpkin carving
contest; apple bobbing; crafts and lots of other contests and games
for adults and kids of all ages. There will be a dance and
entertainment by the 9th Army Jammin Salmon Dixieland Band and by DJ
Jack Carlson.
• She thanked all the 2006 Event Sponsors and read the sponsors’
names to the group.
• She thanked the 2006 Flower Barrel Sponsors and read those names
to the group as well.
• Pete Hallgren informed her that the Brownsfield Assessment has
been approved by the State and test boring will begin in the
“Triangle area” and across the Alaska Highway to check for
contamination and should be completed by next spring.
Guest Speaker:
Chaplain Wayne W. Santos with the Delta Greely Local Emergency
Planning Committee (LEPC). LEPC is made up of volunteers committed
to fostering and promoting emergency planning and preparedness in
the community. Chaplain Santos stated that he was there to try and
raise awareness within the community to find ways to prepare for
emergencies and disasters and asked what preparations businesses are
making toward emergency preparedness. He stated that disasters can
happen anywhere, and with little or no warning and that everyone
should have a plan. He encouraged everyone to become involved and to
be part of the planning and implementation. He handed out brochures
to the group that contain more details and contact information.
Heritage Homes, LLC was drawn to be the October Member Spotlight.
Judith Farrow was the winner of the door prize provided by The
Visitor Information Center.
The free chamber lunch was won by Rhonda Swearingen.
Meeting was adjourned at 1:00 pm.
